Turns out, taking a bag of books and promo bookmarks to a music festival gets a bunch of sales and a radio spot. Yay!

Back To School! Lots of masks and social distancing and taking up all of my headspace, so no room for writing. Won't be long, though
Must remember not to use irony on Twitter. It's more trouble than it's worth.
I've just deliberately unfollowed most of the non writerly Twitter feeds I was following. Because Book Twitter quickly guilts me into getting off Twitter to do my own writing.
Didn't make the longlist in another competition (although some nice things said in the judges' feedback).
Bit despondent.
Kids seem to love the books, but publishing professionals are much harder to convince, it seems.
Ah well.
Here we go again...just submitted Toymania to an agent who seems to be asking for EXACTLY THIS BOOK.

Feeling a bit nervous ahead of this Sunday's Pop-ups....
My husband laughed out loud (at the funny bits) and cried real tears (at the poignant part) when reading the first draft of my YA novel.
Okay, he had some criticisms too...(all useful)
But I call that a definite WIN!
Just written the last word on the last page of my YA novel.
I'm going to go back and insert a few details before I leave it to lie fallow.
But anyway, YAY!
28K and counting. Thanks to a rejig of the plot and some extra time spent researching, the word count increase is accelerating nicely.
An unexpected two days off work, thanks to the "gota fria" currently assailing the west Mediterranean coast. Being stuck indoors is great for the WIP.
Good news: After halving my hours from four to two days a week, my work has reinstated a day and a half, so I'm back to 3.5.
Bad news: bang goes (almost) all that lovely extra writing time I was anticipating!
Just completed 20,000 words of Draft No.1 of my YA novel.
About a third of the way through, then.
So far, so good...
The bad news...next year my working hours are being halved because of company cuts.
The good news..MORE WRITING TIME, HOORAY!!
The bad news...salary also halved.
The good news...WRITING COSTS NOTHING!!
After a pause for wound-licking and (yet another) redraft, I've submitted my children's novel to a couple of agents. Both submissions were specifically invited, which is vaguely promising. I'm not naive enough to think it'll make a blind bit of difference to their ultimate decision, but it's nice to feel welcome.
Oh, I put in for a Pop-up too.
Well, what a privilege to be a beta reader for one of my talented fellow Litopians!
I'm hugely enjoying writing a teen novel.. It's a good few years older than my usual demographic and with different demands on approach and style. Most of all, I really like the characters...which helps, seeing as I'm going to be in their company for a good while yet.
My wrist cast is off! Whoop-de-whoop!
Feels flipping' weird, but at least I can touch type again.
Three more weeks, then off comes the plaster cast.
If I could drum my fingers effectively, I would be.
The unbridled and honest nature of children's enthusiasm to a book they've enjoyed is one of the main reasons why I love writing for young readers. A sincere THANK YOU to @Rainbird and her excellent offspring for giving me such a massive fix of it! Touched and delighted that you all had a great time with Lost And Found In Treasureland.
Left-handed typing is speeding up, but boy, do I miss the use of my dominant hand...!
