• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Have a nice holiday! By the way, are you stockpiling Marmite? [~50 tubs on the shelves to your right]

Ah, cunning . . . [makes mental note to sell ill-considered Vegemite investment] . . . [what is the difference, anyway??!]

Vegemite is a lot smoother (which is a bit odd, considering it’s from the land of Ocker... wouldn’t you expect the Aussie version to be a bit horny-handed, while the Pommie version should be all Brylcreem and sleaze? National stereotypes aren’t what they used to be).

We had a national Marmite shortage here a year or so ago--they called it Marmageddon. Not a jar to be had for love or money for months. Didn't bother me any--can't stand the stuff--but it was a huge deal for many.

Have a great vacation!
