• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

It's MINE. Bitch.
Brace yourself, Ronny, it’s on!
I will now proceed to list the names of the Guinea pigs I’ve had.
Can you do better?

Adrian (a girl)
Keith (also a girl)
Barry (you know what I’m going to say)
Sandra (weirdly, not a boy)
Roger (ironic neutered male)
Shelley (unironic girl, but staggeringly pretty)
Dean (from the Forest of Dean, obvs)
Andrea
Lorraine

Names reserved for next ones include Roy, Ian, Karen and Clive.

Sergio the lunkarya (current resident)
Pablo the shy sheltie (current resident)
Carlos the very intelligent silver marten, who had free range roam in my old flat. Died 2019. Still miss him. (Carlos used to get really confused if I was on the phone. He'd patrol the room, searching for the other human, wondering whom on earth I was talking to, because I wasn't doing a guinea pig voice)
Macallan Carlos' chum. Abyruvian/a.k.a sheba mini yak (crazy punk hair)
Shaun the texel cross (massive and looked like a beaver). Rescued from a rough child.
Scoffer the cheeky abyssinian and his brothers: Hamish and Roddy
Himal
(Himalayan markings)
Miso (short-haired, brown)
Strudel (renamed Spike by the woman I rehomed her with, when I temporarily became homeless)
Strudel's admirer, Roger
Fleur
and her daughters (Cleo, Chloe and Carla). Fleur inspired the page in The Way of the Guinea Pig about lying in the food bowl as an egotistical way to get power over others.
Seth and Reuben (part of a large group liberated from a laboratory breeder)
Shandy (sheltie. Not the brightest)
Rhea the dalmatian
Rusty the rex
Chocky and her sons, Max and Sandy (They were my sister's guinea pigs)
Charlotte the sheltie diva
Scamp (81-86, who started it all)

PLEASE don't call a guinea pig, Karen.

I had one called Squirt. I forget if it was male or female but it did have a projectile way of self defence.
