• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

A lovely book for children of about 10 y and up, and also enjoyable for adults. The MC is a kid with an unfortunate genetic condition that has resulted in him being of very unusual appearance...which invites the obvious and inevitable cruelties from other children. But it also brings out some noble and selfless acts. I enjoyed the book very much; it's saved from falling into the 'worthy but dull' category by its use of multiple POVs which to some extent explore the effect of the MC's condition not just on himself but on those around him. I highly recommend it for kids of the above age group (I pinched it off my daughter -- she and her whole class were raving about it), though non-US children will likely need some of the American vocab explained to them.
