• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

    This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

    Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Poetry Window Tears by Hannah Faoileán

The World Between the Words
A dark and thunderous mane;
anguish triumphant-eyed,
an ecstasy that falls upon
the tears of a broken child.

A ravager tears apart,
enflamed eyes red and wild;
an empty vessel cries
for the tears of a broken child.

Abandoned packets of solace
in shrouded blankets lie.
Their chalices all gather round
and everyone wonders why.

A frightened frown lies sleeping.
A face so pale and mild.
With a story that lies hidden
in the tears of a broken child.

A maiden travels alone,
a beautiful woman restyled.
But her secret is spoken in silence
by the tears of a broken child.
