I want to welcome you to the new-look Steam Room, formerly the Back Room.
The Steam Room is reserved for Full Members. And it’s very private. Search engines can’t see it or index it, nor is it visible to non-members. Although basic (i.e. free) members can see the titles of threads there, they cannot read the contents of threads or posts.
In its former incarnation as the Back Room, it has already proved its usefulness… for members to seek and give confidential advice, for contractual discussions, and much, much more.
And now with its newly-broadened remit, it’s going to be even more useful.
We’ve relaxed our “no politics” rule to allow political discussions – as long as they don’t violate the Prime Directive (please re-read!).
But we’d prefer politics to be discussed in the Steam Room. After all… that’s where you can go to let off steam!
Inside the Steam Room, you’ll find that you have total control over the threads and posts you make there. For example, you can delete any thread you create or any post you make.
And because we don’t permit third parties such as search engines, AI bots etc to access the Steam Room, they can’t index it to keep their own copies of your writing.
