• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence
    • Don't take offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

I am once again asking you for your intellectual support...

I don't know if I'm understanding this correctly or not, so I'm going to put it out to the colony in the hopes there is someone here who as been through this already.

Email.
I've signed up with Wix (Still in the 14 day free trail so trying to figure it all out before then) and using their email campaign tools. However, it's using my gmail account as its linked email. To get a branded one i.e. @jakejoyauthor.com, I need to pay them some money. Buuuut, and here comes the confusion, am I limited on the number of subscribers/emails I can send? Do I need to sign up to something like Mailerlite as well?

It is all very confusing, and the FAQ page is absolutely no help whatsoever.

If anyone knows anthing about this, plesae help.

much love
J

Before you move forward with getting website and e-mail, please watch this...

Consider Namecheap.com for domains, and HostGator for hosting.

I use Wix and pay to have my own email domain (e..g @nikkythewriter.com). I'm currently using the free version of MailerLite to send out my newsletter emails. It'll remain free until I hit 1000 subscribers (it's been ~2 years since I started and I'm sitting at about 850 atm - but note I also regularly clean out the deadwood who sign up and then never open an email. If you don't clean your subscriber list then you'll use up your allocated 1000 a lot quicker). All that said, I'm contemplating moving email providers since I'm not a fan of MailerLite's "updated" platform and the price increase that's come with it (that I'll have to start paying once I hit 1000 subscribers).

I am attempting the same.
But linking it all together is something of a headache.
Did you have trouble setting it all up? I can't seem to find the inbox for my business email to verify it with Mailerlite
