• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

My cheek presses a window.
The plane accelerates
past lights on a runway.
Slender wings slice air
and lift me
upwards
through a curtain of white ripples.

Above,
a burning ball of shining splendour
sizzles, auburn and gold,
in a pale blue sky.

Below,
resting upon stillness,
a white forest
stretches to eternity.

Perhaps it is here spirits of our yesterdays
stride ghostly paths.
Perhaps it is here tears form and fall
as sorrows scatter
and flow from the clouds.

A wing shelters me.
Silver surrounds me.
And I breathe.
And I gaze
upon a beautiful journey.
