• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence
    • Don't take offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Poetry senseless

The World Between the Words
Down there, a grave.
Down there, past lives.
Down there, voices
Command you to dive.

Stand at sill's edge.
Wait for a call
From without, to say stop, or
Within, to say fall.

Wind strengthens,
Drags you over the brink.
Why is it harder
To stand than to sink?

Sink you will,
Every time.
Is this real or
In your mind?

Still, you fall,
A long way down.
Still, you fall,
Make not a sound.

No fear of impact
When flesh shatters.
Ribs in splinters,
Skin in tatters.

Torn apart from
Shards of bone
Gasp for air,
This, too, you’ve known.

Don’t fear torture,
Sense-breaking pain.
Dread senseless
Over and over again.
