I saw a scam post in a Facebook writers group I belong to. Some bloke (from Nigeria, not sure that matters, dodgy folk are everywhere) posted, asking for someone to edit his book and is offering a wad of dosh for their troubles. $20K, in fact. (And he's considering up-ing that, because editing is 'such strenuous work' - his words in a follow up comment.)
Grrrrrrrrrrr.
It's frightening to see how many have responded saying they'll do it and asked him to DM (I'm guessing, out of over 300 comments, over 40 have offered to do it ). You'd think folk wouldn't fall for it, esp when looking at the way he posts (bad English. Not one sensible detail about the book other than word count), or the responses in the group, as well as the guy's interactions with the responses. Most in the group are screaming 'scam'. And yet ...
Oh there are some funny responses too, like someone saying 'You're not a prince per chance, are you?'
