Proposal File Size

Hi everybody. I'm getting ready to send out my first cookbook proposal in years and I'm concerned about file size. A PDF (or even an email) can easily balloon to an undeliverable size when photos are added. Back in 2016, 5MB was as big as I could send without bouncing, has this number grown? I don't want editors or agents getting error messages and I certainly don't want my submissions to bounce.

What sort of size can I send? 5MB? 10? More?

Depends on your system, but most do 25MB.

You could test it by emailing it to a friend or family member?

Or if you use Querytracker (which costs), one agent takes 2MB. They may vary. Not sure.

If you're sending a proposal, you only need a small sample of the actual contents.

I don't think so. The receiving mail server determines the limit on incoming mail and can vary between servers.

You're selling a proposal, right? Then it's no different for a cookbook. I dont think they want your whole manuscript until they request it.
