This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Some of you may recall my entry for Pop-Up Submissions on 13th October 2019. Our very own Carol Rose and author Allan Boroughs sat on the panel that evening with Agent Pete. They all gave Secret of Heathcote Manor the thumbs up and it was voted the overall winner. It is with great pleasure that I'm able to announce that I have accepted an offer of representation in respect of this tale from Cindy Bullard at Birch Literary. My thanks to everyone on both the panel and in the chat room who said nice things about my entry. It provided the motivation I needed to get the thing finished and begin querying.

That's great news, David! These Pop-Up Submissions are really working out for writers, whether they find representation or not. All the best to you and the Secret of Heathcoate Manor!! Sure hope I can find the courage to pop in at pop-up someday too!

Hi Geoff, It's a great experience and I encourage you to give it a go. I've done it three times with different tales.

Brilliant news. Congratulations!!!

That's REALLY good news, @David Weller ... very pleased indeed!

If you don't mind, write a little endorsement for Pop-Ups that we can show on the programme... we have a growing list of nice comments people have made that we regularly show.

Also, keep us up to date with your progress with publishers, please. As and when you have a pub date, we will certainly feature it!

:) p.

Hi Pete. It seems your faith in Secret of Heathcote Manor wasn't misplaced. The comments you made boosted my confidence and provided an incentive to finish the manuscript. I'd be more than happy to write an endorsement for Pop-Ups. As soon as I've come back down to Earth, I'll sit down and write something. I'll let you have it in a week or two. I'll certainly keep you up to date with any progress.

Congratulation David, and thank you for sharing. As I'm sure you know, reading about others' success gives us all hope - if we persist. Well done.

Hi JR. You've hit the nail right on the head. Persistence is the key to getting anywhere in publishing. Rejection can get you down, but there will always be another agent to query.
