• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Poetry My Lost Youth

The World Between the Words
I’ve looked up
and looked down

I’ve even done
the hokey-cokey
and turned around

but I still don’t know
where my lost youth
has gone

It was last seen
chasing illusions
kissing the moon
and trying to kick
the devil’s hairy arse.

If you find it,
can you please
send it back to me?

There’s deeds left undone
still miles to be run
bells to be rung
songs to be sung
hearts to be won.

A great poem. I love the idea of kissing the moon and kicking the devil’s backside (I feel “arse” is out of place). Is it a poem full of regrets and hope? If you’re as old as I am, it must be. I have so many things to do, and that includes writing. Well done.

Hi @GSKaye I'm a poor old fella these days. I suppose we all have a few regrets, although I've had (and am still having) a good life. We're all ultimately left with a mountain of unfulfilled things that we could have / should have / would have done. Thanks for your comment. Welcome to Litopia... some nice folks here.
