Here’s a nutshell-sized version of the most common account related questions members have – together with brief answers (wouldn’t be much use without the answers, would it…?).

You have Two Logins!

Most websites have merely one login, but we have two. Because we're special.
You'll use the same user name to log in to both places, but a different password for each.
One login is to this place (“The Colony”) that contains all the many forums and heaven knows what else you’ll find here (we're pack-rats, did you guess?). This is the link you’ll need to log in to the Colony, bookmark it:

The other login you’ll need is to the Account Portal, where you can upgrade or downgrade your account, change your payment method, start blogging, summon familiars, and a whole load more things that you can’t do in the Colony.
Remember, you'll use the same user name to log in to both places, but a different password for each.

Upgrading / Downgrading

There are just two types of accounts here in Litopia – free (“Basic”) and paid (“Full Member”). Members can upgrade and downgrade their accounts, from Basic to Full and vice versa, as the need arises.

Obviously, we want as many members as possible to support us. The yearly subscription is ludicrously good value: you can buy an entire year’s membership here for far less than you’d pay elsewhere for just one teeny-weeny little writing seminar!

But we do recognize that many writers are up against it. If money is tight, you can downgrade your account until you’re flush again. We’ll still love you anyway :)

You can do all this financial wheeler-dealing in (surprise, surprise) your Account Portal. Just log in there and choose which payment option suits you best – month by month, quarterly or (best value) yearly.

Click on the “Subscriptions” item in the Account Portal to view, upgrade or downgrade your membership:

Changing You Colony Name

Can you change your Colony name? What happens, say if you join choosing the user name “Abstinence” and you subsequently have second thoughts?

Well, too bad. You can’t change your name.

But we can do it for you!

That’s because it involves arduous technical work behind the scenes. We won’t bore you with it, but it involves the chronosynclastic infundibulum, which you don’t mess with unless you really know what you’re doing.

So… yes, we can change your user name for you, but you’ll have to ask a friendly Guardian to do it.

Nicely.

"None Of This Makes Any Sense To Me."

Probably because you’re a xNxx on the Myers-Briggs scale, typical of highly creative folk who are rubbish at cooking.

Just ask. That’s what the “Ask For Help Here” forum is for.

(Hint – it’s in the name).
