• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

Hello all

If anyone would like me to take a look at the first 10 (say) pages of their novel (no fantasy genre please!) I will be happy to give them a critique on punctuation, grammar, style, structure, characterisation, credibility etc etc.
My credentials: 13 novels published over 20 years by a combination of mainstream, indie and self-publishers, in crime thriller / psychological thriller / occult thriller genres; formed my own publishing company specialising in fiction and biographies, and operated it for 3 years; from time to time done editing, including substantive editing.
If interested, email to authorline@gmail.com. Please include a blurb of about the same size as Pop-Up Submissions blurbs.
I don't claim to be a brilliant critic or editor, but as the song goes "if I can help somebody with a word or song" (forget the 'song' bit).
If I get swamped I may not be very quick as I am currently putting finishing touches to 3 novels, the first of which will be published in August. So be patient with me.
