• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence
    • Don't take offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Poetry Dreams

The World Between the Words
Each night I dream of you
With you, under you, part of you.
But when you ask, I lie and say
I didn’t dream last night.

In dreams you hold and kiss me,
promise you won’t leave me
And you say “Take the rest of my life.”
And I reply “Take mine.”

Each day I wake I’m with you
Beside and ever in love with you
Still when you ask, I lie and say
I never dream at night.

But in the dark you hold and kiss me,
say you’ll never leave me
You whisper “Take the rest of my life.”
And I reply “Take mine.”

Partly
I’m afraid
To gift a thing so fragile
There’s not enough. Is it enough?
I’ve never been enough

Take mine, have mine, I’ll give you all that’s mine.
In return, give me yours,
Together we’re enough.
