As a service to members, we have for a long time offered you the option to log in to the Colony by using your Google, Facebook or Twitter credentials.
That facility will be withdrawn soon, so please read on if you think you may be affected.
Facebook is infamous for tracking its users (and also non-users) on every website they visit, often involving egregious breaches of personal data privacy. But they are not alone; Google tracks you too, as does Microsoft and others.
We have no desire to enable this to happen to our members, and therefore we will soon be withdrawing the option to log in here using third party credentials.
In advance, please can you go to your Password & Security Settings and revoke permission for Google, Facebook or Twitter to log you in here.
You will then have to set (and remember) a unique password for this site which will be the only way you will be able to log in.
As an aside, I’ve used the excellent, open source and free password manager KeePass 2 for some time now to generate and securely hold passwords and I do recommend it.
