• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

I like to watch the UK reality series where modern families move into old houses and live the past. I remember one form about 2001 where the SIL who was single had a wretched life in 1900 until she got a bicycle. Then she was a spinster on wheels.

This illustration is so much like a pamphlet book I found in my grandmother's things. She was a one-room schoolteacher who graduated the local HS in 1912. Such a Gibson Girl. her booklet is entitled an adventure book for girls. On the cover they are canoing.
