Plot: Taking place after alien crafts land around the world, an expert linguist is recruited by the military to determine whether they come in peace or are a threat.
Unusually low key action in some ways, especially for this genre...and that's good. The arrivals are massively impressive and ultimately, touching, and the story is subtle and thoughtful. Messages in bottles, and the curse of the gift of prophecy.
