There is something special about Alita, only what is it? This is a movie you have to go into appreciating the audience type for which it's written. If only to grasp a lesson in 'writing for your audience', it's a great movie. I'm a parent, I'm not the movie's target audience. For much of the movie, I struggled to care, even after the obligatory "Save the Cat" scene (although it's a save the dog scene). My 3 kids loved it though (and they all agreed, they never agree!), they were the intended audience. I did like the way everything came together in the climax, but you have to be sci-fi orientated to appreciate it.
