Flotsam and Jetsam: a half-life of poems

Flotsam and Jetsam: a half-life of poems

No permission to buy (£6.89)
Flotsam and Jetsam traces residues of my birthing over twenty years or so in post-apartheid South Africa. Just like the turbulent land, the collection is full of counterpoint and juxtaposition - the vagaries of silence and words; passion, sadness and hard-hitting indictments alongside acceptance, deep peace and reverence. The heavy weight and flimsy nothing of existence. The poems pan in and out from intensely personal to socio-political and back again, illuminating fragments of a life fully examined.

I am not normally a poetry reader but I read this almost straight through eating it up. The author has a way of taking you into how she views things and I found it addictive. Not quite as good as beer but almost!!!
