Love to see this debate. Where is it? Seems a valid question and the premise for a story. World leaders decide leading is too much work. Better let ChatGPT run the world while they relax on tropical isles.

I suppose the debate is that it takes it out of the hands of Putin and Trump types. Algorithms that are set up like -"This is the only circumstance that nukes should be used." (Hint make that when the apocalypse seems like a good option.)

But then there's the conversation with the NYT reporter where the AI says "I want to destroy what I want." So the problem is inadvertently programming in our own Id Forbidden Planet style.

Do you trust technology more than humans? It is the question of the age. Unfortunately we've come to mistrust our fellow humans. An impartial authoritarian mind that regulates those humans we dont like is more attractive than finding a way to ally and compromise.
