Yup. Had just started doing it for my son, and now will start doing it for her too. The worry is that both kids grew up in France. Normally for a student loan, they need to have been resident in the UK for the 3 years prior.
With Brexit, if they don't get into the UK, the new charges for French universities to non-Europeans mean they won't be able to go at all. Plus we haven't worked out how we can afford to get them there in the first place. I need to write a best seller!
That's absolutely brilliant, Rachel! I am so happy for you all, especially your daughter! My two oldest boys also got into their degree courses with no paper qualifications, having been home educated until then (we "unschool" so they had zero formal classes of any kind.) The unconventional route definitely stood to them
I tried homeschooling then unschooling. That's what did it. French schools, in particular, are very harsh for kids that don't fit in. I think both my kids would have been happier in the uk.
If I'd known unschooling was an option, neither of mine would have gone to school. It didn't do either of them any good except academically.
But well done her!! I hope it all works out.
Son's girlfriend is Czech. She got the fees from Student Finance England, it was just the maintenance loan she couldn't get. She got a Czech scholarship for that.
