Nicholas Pevsner. A go-to name from my own student days. I did an hons degree in Art History---which included architecture and Museum studies. It is a strange feeling, when old family friends die, to feel that former worlds are passing away entire.
I remember as a child in the 60s going to Sir Nicholas's house. We were all impressed that he had underfloor heating. It was a rare thing in 1965 England. Presumably, he'd been inspired by the Romans.
