If anyone has questions, I'd be happy to tell you about the experience. It hasn't been published yet, but it has gone through in-house editing etc.

True. I'll tell you my thought process (convoluted though it may be). The book I published last month actually is pretty steady around the 6k rankings on Amazon, which is better than many of the Amazon Press books open at. So, I didn't really do it for rankings exactly. But, what I learned from...

Open Submission Coming up, Fantasy, Steampunk...

That's neat! I wanted to add that Kensington has open submissions for their new imprint, too. They're looking for sci-fi series. They actually read my ms, but it was too romance with not enough sci-fi for them, but I was amazed at their response time and how personal (and kind) they were for...

Yes, definitely. I guess I'm just hoping to build a bigger platform and rack up some more impressive numbers before entering that arena. My kindle scout book just went live so I'll definitely tell about what it's like.

    Introducing myself

I've actually really loved all of the editors I've worked with, but some I simply couldn't afford long term. I've been publishing books every 1-2 months lately, and all of it + everything else book related comes out of book earnings. I definitely agree that people should be paid what they're...

    Introducing myself

Definitely happens with self pubbed books! I love my editor, but it took me a few books and a few editors to find someone who was both affordable and thorough. I've been thinking of actually going through Amazon Scout for the sequels to my two ongoing series. I probably sound like I work for...

    Fanfare! Submission Gong

Very cool thread :) I sent out about 20 queries to agents and 2 to publishers that accept direct submissions in the past month. So . . . GONG! That felt good. Actually, I feel a little off-footed about having sent the books to publishers as well (Harlequin and Kensington), and I'd love others'...

    Fanfare! Submission Gong

Have you ever considered Amazon Scout? Or has anyone? It seems like a cool way to get a leg up if you're going the self-publishing route.
