No, the others really have nothing to do with that one. I really don't know why it took hold of me so much. I wish I did.

The first book I ever finished (in 2001) still haunts my waking and sleeping dreams. It's a never-ending, always-evolving sweeping saga. If I ever sat down to write the story that way it was meant to be written, I'd have about five full-length novels. :)

Language is fluid. Think of how people used to speak 100 years ago. 50 years ago, even. It's different than now. Do I like it that people can't use a freaking apostrophe the right way? No. I think it's absurd. But that's because I understand them and a lot of people do not. I don't know why...

I agree. If you're doing it right (writing in close third) italics are not needed.
