• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

The September Flash Club is now open.

We once again have a fabulous prize for the winner: a copy of CLOSE YOUR EYES by Ewan Morrison. (Glenfiddich Scottish Writer of the Year. “A riveting read” says The Observer.)

The genre for September is SiFi. To participate go here. You will find all the details, including the prompt. Remember to post anonymously by checking the Post as Anonymous box.

New participants: if you haven't yet, please also read the Welcome to the Flash Club page. Welcome to The Flash Club

Have fun. Enjoy deep space.

Tragically, I can't for the life of me find that 'post as anonymous' box
It's a little box just underneath the box where you type the post and above the 'attach files' box. It's a little square saying 'posting as anonymous' which you can check.

Maybe it's my laptop - or my own stupidity - but at the moment I still can't find it! All I see below this box is the 'Share' options. Hopefully I'll figure it out at some point this month, thanks though!

It's above the share button. Can you see the 'attach files' button to the left of the post reply button? It should be the next thing you see right above that. There should be a small square next to a line saying "posting as anon?" Click that small square.

If you still can't find it, can you do a screenshot of what you have? In case something has gone astray.

Arrrrrrgh! Can take a screenshot but because there's no 'attach files' button to the left of the 'post reply' I can't, well, attach it. Trying Chrome and Safari but can't paste either. Maybe its something to do with my work laptop? *quietly pounds keyboard*

Hey Andy, this is a screenshot of what you should see when you're in the "September Contest" forum and click "post reply". See the "posting as anonymous" box at the bottom in the middle? Is yours different?

Thanks RK, sure I can see it on your screenshot but definitely not live on the pages, same on my phone too. Couldn’t be an Apple thing surely?

Andy, yes I can replicate this problem. Not sure what the solution is at the moment. It may be a coding issue. Will investigate. meantime, you can still post, but not anon.

Phew! Thanks for at least reassuring me that I’m not going mad! I’ll wait a while to post, or maybe try it again on another computer. Best wishes

Just to let you know, I also cannot find the anonymous button. I am running the latest Chrome on a Pavillion HP laptop with Windows 10. I am also a basic user.

Should I go ahead and post my writing as myself? I don't care all that much about winning, but it would be fun to post something. :)

Ok, so here's a thing - just about to watch yesterday's Pop-Ups and noticed that in the text box beneath there IS an anon checkbox and attach icon. Sadly not anywhere else though that I can see, including the Flash comp. Don't know if that helps @AgentPete?
