For any of you near enough to this who are SF writers and/or interested. This sounds fabulous!!

Launch Pad Astronomy Workshop (July 1-7, 2024): Launch Pad is a workshop for established writers, editors and creative professionals held at the University of Wyoming in Laramie. Launch Pad aims to provide a “crash course” for the attendees in modern astronomical science through lectures, activities, discussion and observation. There will be a charge of $199 for the event that includes food and lodging at the University. Learn more and apply at launchpadworkshop.org.

Yes, this is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, SFWA, and NASA. Well worth attending. Registration is $US 199, which includes transportation from Denver to Laramie, food, and lodging.

As long as you are headed west there are astronaut summer courses in Hutchinson , Ks. Most say for kids on the website but they do do adults. The space museum is worth visiting even if just passing by on your way to Wyoming. Flying in to Denver and driving is your see America option.

Outside Hutchinson is the small town of Yoder where I used to buy bags of wheat to grind my bread from the Amish community there. They have a restaurant where you see the buggys hitched outside. Your tastebuds may refuse to go back to UPF's.
