This was amazing! I'm sorry I couldn't get the hang of the Discord app but I watched live in realtime on YouTube. You said so many kind things about my writing, very supportive. (There are also some comments that may lead me to do some microsurgeries on these opening pages for better effect).

Thx everyone, it's a team effort, and in particular I've found the chatroom provides a wealth of immediate wisdom. As you can see with this episode, we can now see chatroom comments live as they occur during the reading, which we previously were missing. I think this will be of great value to authors, it's like a realtime lab experiment... nothing like it anywhere else on the net.
We have our first major publisher confirmed as a guest. However, August is holiday time, and I've just booked myself two weeks in September, so we'll be closing Pop-Ups for a bit, reopening on Sunday 23rd September. You'll still be able to make submissions during this time. I will post a more detailed announcement with exact dates soon.

Really interesting smorgasbord. A pleasure to step in alongside @Amber. Sharp as a tack, spot on in her uniquely relaxed style. And now Peter's got that split screen thingie going on, we can still keep half an eye on the riots, fun and wisdom in the Chatroom.

@AgentPete , dim question here, but does that mean there aren't any pop ups for the rest of August, and that the next one is on the 23rd Sept? I'm just asking cos the countdown on the forum page says 6 days until the next show. I'm considering submitting and I'm hoping to co-ordinate it with my holiday to make sure I'm around.

I hope the publisher will do a Russian accent...

I kind of love hearing your lovely voice Katie.

I had to watch it to see what you meant by relaxed. It looks like I'm swiveling in my chair, looking at birds outside my window, and playing with things on my desk. Shame on me.

At least one of the reasons I do it is because this sort of thing makes me so uncomfortable. Reading my own writing makes me uncomfortable, talking to people makes me uncomfortable, and having my picture taken ... and Skype... makes me uncomfortable. It's a good sort of exercise for those things, I think.

I am surprised more people didn't volunteer.

I've always avoided having pics taken or hearing myself - thank you for those kind words. But it is fun to do and a learning experience and yes, I highly recommend it to further volunteers come September. You come over very well, Amber; totally relaxed, assured and with a laconic wit and humour. And Peter looks like a film star, so does Kirsten, Geoff really does look rather like a suntanned Stephen King...and Ali is a natural pro, but we can never really know how we come over to other people. I've heard plenty of actors say they can't watch themselves on screen. Can only immerse in the moment. Once went on a trip to Russia when it was USSR, and we went to Tashkent and some people in the party wanted to take pics of some old Sunni men sitting by a well, but they didn't want cameras anywhere near them...didn't blame them.
