On today's Pop-Ups there's a work of an unknown genre from Thomas, a thriller from James, illustrated middle grade fiction from Christian, speculative fiction novelettes from Kirsten, children's fiction inspired by 4500 bee stings from Gerry and YA fantasy from Jackie.

Also on our Facebook page, and our Twitch channel!

I enjoyed that. Thanks. But I would like to add one thing. I know publishing is a business and all agents/publishers look at manuscripts in terms of saleability, but as a reader I do like to see something that is different and a bit more challenging... more lyrical and surprising... more intelligent. It was tricky (for me) to decide which offering to name as favorite of the week: the more obviously commercial thriller or Kirsten's short stories.

I also get Pete's point about it being difficult to place short stories nowadays, so Kirsten I wish you lots of luck.

Good luck to all the writers on the show tonight :)

Don't know about impeaching Trump, but I think Linus will get his 2nd wish.

@Rachel Caldecott-Thornton, forgive me but I've undeleted it. Deleting the cartoon at this stage would leave this thread making no sense at all. But it really isn't a big deal; don't worry about it. I was simply offering a gentle reminder of Litopia's policy when it comes to politics. If you, @NickP and @Leonora would like me to delete all the posts from the cartoon onwards, I will. But I suggest we leave things as they are and move on. Thanks.

It really wasn't meant to start a whole discussion about politics, but I guess it did :) It was meant to be a funny reference to Pete's question to me on the pop-up session... what did I want Santa to bring me? Anyway, I'm sick to death of Trump and Brexit, so I'll happily let it go and stick to writing issues.

It's Peter's site, if he wants to restrict conversation, up to him. Personally, I think there's a difference between predicting that there will be no Brexit and expressing a preference one way or another.

If you think politics and writing don't intersect, well, good luck with that!

Hey, @NickP, your feelings aside, Litopia isn't the place to discuss politics. Thanks.

Can we all stop this now?Litopia is my lovely haven where I have invisible friends who help me on my writing journey. I'm sure no one wants to fall out over this... there's enough strife in the world as it is.

I'm going back now to making my fictional fight scene a little more violent :)
