• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

    • Don't give offence

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

Hi everyone!

I'm so excited to be here. I'm an unpublished writer of several genres, from children's fantasy to adult rom-com, looking to hone my craft.

I love cats, the gym and reading (surprise!). I've sworn off chocolate but have a little addiction to salt and vinegar crisps.

I'm happy to chat to anyone or give feedback ☺️

A very warm welcome, @Claire G .

Nice to have you here. Hope you enjoy Litopia and do get involved as soon as you’re ready.

This is a good place to check out (How-to guide) to see a lot of what goes on in the colony.

If anything is unclear do please contact me and I’ll be happy to assist if I can.

Crisps and savoury snacks of any flavour are my fatal weakness and I can eat them morning, noon, and night. :)

Hi Claire, and welcome – glad you found us. We're a mixed bunch here, with writers of all different genres so you'll fit right in.

Check out the writing groups/Workshops – and don't be shy about offering your own thoughts on other writers' work. As many members will testify, we learn a lot from critiquing others' work, too.

You can always submit the first 700 words of your own work to Pop-Ups if you'd like some advice on the beginning. That's on YouTube, Sunday evenings (6pm UK time). There's excellent advice every week on writing and publishing in general.

I'm one of the Guardians on Litopia, and another salt & vinegar crisps fan – especially on a buttered roll :) so you're in good company! If you have any questions, please get in touch. I look forward to seeing you around the Colony!

Hi Claire G,
I have just discovered and now joined Litopia. So welcome to a fellow new member. Good luck with your writing. Hopefully we can give feedback on each others writing in due course.
