I read an article on this book. This cover is how it was released and there was much disgust from those who liked it, but hated the cover. The demographic of readers was more literary or at least upmarket and this says cheap romance.
It's a generic cover. Could be anything, nothing special. Revised one is much better... the designer might even have read the book!

PS could you upload larger images, pls?

Pulled those off the internet. media download. Yeah the agent was getting feedback that readers were actually women chemists etc and were hiding the cover while reading so she got the publisher to change the cover.

I thought the cover version with the women with glasses was the U.S. released one and the other quartered version is as it was released in the U.K.. Maybe I'm wrong. The author is from CA, but she may have published first in the UK, I'm not sure. I think she was living in London.
