There's a chat room screen. He will ask you to type hello and let him know you are there. He will not discuss your sub if you do not. You can type, people do while listening. Peter will see the comments and maybe say something back but probably not right away. There is a 15 second time delay, and it can break his train of thought, going to and fro between screens.

I've got the same problem with a kids novels I co-wrote. It really is for adults, but as an animated script it would work a treat. Might be a way to go?

I hadn't considered this, to be honest. At the moment I'm more inclined to leave it in a drawer and write something new (and better). Part of me thinks of my first novel as the beginning of a writing apprenticeship. I've learned a lot, but now it's time to move on :)

Interesting, isn't it. I look forward to hearing his comments ... I don't know about you, but I didn't realise we were supposed to send proper submission letters. I assumed 'a few words about me' on the submission form meant just that. Oh, well. He'll have more time to read my garble.

Me too! That really threw me and I just reduced my standard letter down to a few words (which we're even the ones I would usually use, and one of which - which I never normally use - Pete talked and talked and talked about... :-(

Oh, well, next time we'll know better and can impress him with a carefully worded letter.

I imagine if he was maxed, he'd simply roll the subs over to the next session. What says @AgentPete?

I'm trying to mail people beforehand so they know when to listen. Reducing the number of submissions to ten per session will help the workload.

I've added "Genre" and "Synopsis/Jacket Blurb" fields to the submission form since both of these are quite important to the commercial context of many submissions. The covering letter itself doesn't have to be - I would say, shouldn't be - too formal. It only has two functions:

a) To introduce and position the author;
b) To persuade the agent or agency to invest some serious time in the manuscript. I often refer to this as "Sofa Time", since most offices have a sofa where agents can take really interesting stuff to read.

Hi Pete, I'm just trying to figure out how to PM you the synopsis, but I seem to be having some teething problems. I went to 'start a conversation', then added your name, but I can't for the life of me find a button that lets me attach my synopsis file. Or shall I copy and paste?

Hi, I'm new here too. Welcome. I like the sound of your historical fiction/genre mashup... one of my projects which I'm nervous about continuing is sort of like this. It would be great to bounce some ideas off you (and hopefully vice versa). I'm English, but live in France, but this Colony thing breaks down the whole space/time continuum :)
