• Café Life is the Colony's main hangout, watering hole and meeting point.

This is a place where you'll meet and make writing friends, and indulge in stratospherically-elevated wit or barometrically low humour.

Some Colonists pop in religiously every day before or after work. Others we see here less regularly, but all are equally welcome. Two important grounds rules…

We now allow political discussion, but strongly suggest it takes place in the Steam Room, which is a private sub-forum within Café Life. It’s only accessible to Full Members.

The Birthday Belugas
(younger daughter is 26 today, and just Skyped to say she is too full of cake to move, lying there like a stranded whale. Pic below is her, and a friend has photoshopped it- or whatever it is they do these days)

Pic is my brother with his band. They were all friends in the police, rarely got time to rehearse. Not played for years. Maybe when he finishes, and he is 49. due to come out, exhausted and now job hunting. They thought about calling their band The Pigs, (The Police was already taken of course) But they did a lot of charity events, and worried that if people knew they were police, someone would trash their equipment or the van. They were really good too, instrumental covers of Iron Maiden, and a really great girl singer, also police, great voice for Amy Winehouse covers.
